Zokey Ahad was born on 15th December 1968 in Dhaka. He obtained his Masters Degree in Management under Dhaka University, Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) from Dhaka University and finally did his Masters in Diplomacy and Trade from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. He took professional training in Bangladesh Public Administrative Training Centre (BPATC), Dhaka, Foreign Service Academy, Dhaka, in New Delhi and in Stockholm.
He served in different capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after his joining in 1998 in the BCS (Foreign Affairs). He worked in Administration, Multilateral Economic Affairs, International Organizations and some territorial wings. He also worked as the Deputy Chief of Protocol.
During his overseas postings he served in different capacities in the Bangladesh Embassies in People’s Republic of China and the Netherlands. He also served as the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Manchester.
Zokey Ahad’s ancestors hail from Sandwip and his father, Mr. Noor-Al Ahad (Retired), is a very renowned Bureaucrat of 1955 EPCS Batch. His maternal grandfather was a Deputy Magistrate during the British rule and also hails from a very respective family of Chittagong.
Mr. Ahad among his many interests is a collector of obsolete bank notes and coins, stamps, first day covers etc. He is married to Mrs. Lamia Rahman Ahad and they are blessed with three children - Ms. Leena Ahad (15 years), Ms. Sumaitah Zumana Ahad (13 years) and only son Zaiyan Noor-Al Ahad (DOB 17 September 2014)
